Passover, along with Christmas, comprise of the main Christian celebrations, was said at the central Easter Church service, which due to the lack of adequate church with required space, was held at the Red Hall of the Youth and Sports Centre in central Prishtina.
Even this hall was too small to take all the guests who had come in large numbers to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ushers of the Fellowship of the Lord’s People Church were doing everything possible to accommodate over 500 guests as they arrived to celebrate the risen Jesus. Pastor Gani Smolica, at the opening of the service led the people of God in prayer and then he continued: “Next year we should meet in some space twice as bigger as this.”
In every Protestant Evangelical church service God is worshiped with songs of praise and worship. This important part of this church service is headed by the Praise and Worship Team of the Protestant Church “Messiah Evangelical Fellowship” in Prishtina. Worshipers have chosen songs with focus resurrection of Jesus.
Gramos Hoxha and Valdet Zogaj and read selected portions of Holy Scripture – the Bible. They read the Bible prophecies written about 1,000 years before the birth of Christ and which were fulfilled in Jesus.
Special guest was Pastor Steve Manning from the US. He was introduced as a great friend of Kosova of more than 20 years, and he himself stressed: “Kosova has a special place in my heart”.
Pastor Driton Krasniqi, President of the Kosova Protestant Evangelical Church shared the message of Easter. Initially, he said: “We jointly want to honour God and I would also like to honour the works of pastors who are heavy engaged with the work of the Gospel where the Lord has called the placed you”.
Pastor Krasniqi emphasized that Jesus Christ is the epicentre of world civilization. With him the history of mankind is divided into the time before and after the birth of Christ. He has come to pay the wages of sin which man himself cannot pay. Hanging nailed to the tree of the cross, he who knew no sin became sin for us that we live righteously. Cross was the place where Jesus was standing between heaven and earth; opening the way to God. While hung on the cross, a soldier pierced his side where water blood came out. Unlike two robbers to whim soldiers broke their bones, Jesus was already dead. Theologians argue that water and blood was trickling from the broken heart of Jesus which seems to burst seeing how humans – his loving creatures – are torturing his Creator.
At the end of the service the Church of the Nazarene “Light of the World” of Prishtina organized a reception for all guests.
